The potato optical sorters line works through the entire processing of the product. Thanks to infrared light, our potato sorting machines detect foreign bodies and remove them. After skin removal, the sorters detect the tubers with residual peel and sort them out for additional peeling.
Once peeled, green color, rotten or spotty tubers are rejected and they can be moved to a different processing phases a part from the product suitable for cutting.
As for potato chips, our optical sorter detects defects such as off-color and rot spots, burns in case of pre-cooking, and residual green color or peel. For French fries, i.e. potato sticks, Protec’s double vision sorting system sorts with extreme precision discolorations, peeling defects or burns.
